I Supported You

I held you up and showed you the world

And watched as your life unfurled.

I gave you legs on which you stood

And became the talk of the neighborhood.

You recorded seasons and our lives together

Then left me cold in the hot summer weather.

Now you are gone and we are through

I’m sure you’ve forgotten how I supported you.

(Tripod at 55th and 10th Avenue – now gone.)

changing perspectives
standing alone
abandoned support system
I don’t need you anymore
